It’s not just that Michael Young might be traded, or that the Rangers are willing to field offers, it is, apparently, that he is demanding a trade.
Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Texas Rangers have asked Young to move to third base told Young that he’ll be moving to third base in order to make room for the speedy, and very young, Elvis Andrus. In turn, Young has asked for a trade, providing the Rangers a list of teams for which he’d be willing to waive his no-trade clause.
It’s hard to imagine that the Angels aren’t on Young’s list. We discussed this a couple of days ago but it appears that things may move faster than anticipated.
Given that the Angels inquired about Young last month, things could get very interesting, despite Young’s rather absurd contract. No matter which team shows interest, the Rangers are almost certainly going to have to eat some of that contract (something with which they’re very experienced).
Hey, don’t shoot the messengers.
