Game 2 – Final

Licey rallied in extra innings to defeat Gigantes del Cibao, 9-7, in game 2 of the Dominican Winter League final series.  Licey now leads the best of nine series 2-0 (game recap here, streaming video replay here).

For Licey, Erick Aybar went 2-5 in the game, with 1 RBI, 1 walk, and two strikeouts.  For Gigantes, Kendry Morales collected his first hit of the series, a single, going 1-3, with 2 walks and 1 strikeout. 

Two pitchers with Angel connections threw for Gigantes in game 2.  Angel prospect Rafael Rodriguez made a relief appearance, recording two outs but also giving up two hits and one run. 

Former Angel Joel Peralta also made an appearance in relief for Gigantes, throwing one inning in which he gave up two hits, struck out 1, and gave up the game changing home run to Jose Bautista

The teams return to Quisqueya tomorrow to play game 3, with Licey looking to jump  out to a commanding series lead. 

Jorge Sosa will get the start for Licey tomorrow and then the pitching matchups will take on an Angel flavor, with former Angel Ramon Ortiz throwing for Licey on Friday and Ervin Santana taking the hill for Licey on Sunday (Saturday being an off-day).
