Well, after much Spanish language-oriented confusion, we’ve managed, finally,  to sort out the happenings in the Dominican Winter League playoffs.

On Sunday, Azucareros defeated Aguilas, 7-3, to move into a second place tie with Kendry Morales and Gigantes del Cibao

With Gigantes and Azucareros both tied with 11-7 records, and tied in the playoff tournament head-to-head matchup at three wins each, they will play a one game playoff Monday, with Gigantes holding home field advantage on the merits of having the higher “general run average.”

The winner of Monday’s playoff game will square off against Licey, featuring Erick Aybar, in the final series beginning Tuesday.  The winner of the final series, the Dominican Winter League champion, will then move on to the Caribbean World Series, played this year in Mexicali, Mexico.

Go Gigantes!
