Over at The Hardball Times, John Walsh delves into an interesting statistical examination of outfield arms. Walsh uses 2008 data to put together a ranking list of all Major League outfielders.
His research suggests that Vladimir‘s arm is still well above average, Torii Hunter‘s is atrocious, and Garret Anderson‘s is right in the middle of the pack.
Obviously, the data doesn’t take into consideration missed cutoff men. And, of course, no mention is made of the fact that if you ever need a ball thrown out of Yankee Stadium, Vladimir is your guy:
