Clyde Wright turns 68 today.
Wright is one of the best left-handers in Angel history (along with Frank Tanana and Chuck Finley), holding the record for Angel wins in a season by a southpaw with 22 (tying Nolan Ryan‘s all-time franchise mark).
He pitched the first ever no-hitter at the stadium, helping to make him an Angel legend, a status that he enjoys to this day.
Were it not for Dean Chance‘s amazing, stand-alone 1964 season, Wright’s 1970 campaign could be, arguably, the greatest pitching year in team history (with Tanana’s 1977 and Finley’s 1990 perhaps better).
In an organization where history can sometimes be hard to come by, Clyde stands as a living legend.
Happy Birthday, Skeeter!
